This event, held annually since 1983, honors a woman of distinction and raises scholarship funds in her name. Proceeds are for women pursuing degrees at Washburn University of Topeka. To date, the luncheon has funded over $250,000 in scholarships.

About our 2010 Honoree
Martha Bartlett-Piland
Martha is President and CEO of MB Piland Fat Free Advertising. Her “color outside the lines” market-ing designs and strategies have earned her and her agency much recognition. In 2005, the agency was named Kansas Woman-Owned Professional Business of the Year by the Kansas Department of Commerce. In 2006, MB Piland was honored as the Small Business of the Year by the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce. The agency has also received numerous industry awards.
Martha’s professional achievements are remarkable, but her record of service to our community is equally notable. She has served on many boards and advisory panels, including: Jayhawk Area Council-Boy Scouts of America, Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Florence Crittenton Services and Heartland Visioning. A strong supporter of United Way, Martha served as Chair of the 2005 Campaign and is serving on the 2009-10 United Way Campaign Cabinet. She is Founder of Women United.
Martha is a recognized leader both locally and nationally having participated in Leadership Greater Topeka, Leadership Kansas and Leadership America. Always willing to share her expertise, Martha has served as an adjunct professor at Washburn University School of Business, mentored students pursuing a career in business/marketing, mentored young people through the Topeka South Rotary’s reading program and participated in the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce’s small business mentoring program. She serves on a national speakers bureau for Delta Gamma Fraternity and has given dozens of keynotes on marketing, leadership, ethics and personal development throughout the US and Canada. Her commitment to our community, along with her willingness to help others achieve their goals, make Martha a true woman of distinction.
