Every year, ABWA groups nominate one accomplished member as a candidate for the Top Ten Business Women of ABWA. 6/25/2011


Congratulations to Anita Miller Fry, who was named Employee of the Quarter at Stormont-Vail HealthCare. 6/25/2011


Congratulations to Michelle L. Kaberline for being named the ABWA-Career Chapter's 2011 Woman of the Year. Michelle is a Special Assistant in the Kansas Office of the State Treasurer, where she has worked since 2007. She coordinates events across the state to teach financial education to Kansans of all ages from grade school students to senior citizens.   

The purpose of the Woman of the Year award is to honor a chapter member who demonstrates both interest and involvement in Career Chapter, contributes to her community and exemplifies the highest degree of professionalism. Criteria for the award includes ABWA participation and attendance, community participation, business experience and education.    


Congratulations to Career Chapter member Cherie Sage, coordinator of Safe Kids Kansas, who was recognized as Outstanding State Coordinator, one of the coveted Safe Kids Champion Awards. A story relating Cherie's accomplishment was recently published by the Topeka Capital-Journal.


Career Chapter member Anita Wolgast has been in the news. She was recognized for her work on the Kansas Christmas tree ornament that will be on display in Washington, D.C. The 2010 ornament, designed by Anita, commemorates Kansas' 150th anniversary of statehood. For over 30 years Anita has designed a yearly ornament for the Kansas tree. Read more in Topeka


Anita Wolgast has also been in the news with her involvement in the NOTO Art District project. Anita is co-chair of the Quality of Life Foundation of the Heartland Visioning Project. She is quoted in a story in The Capital-Journal about NOTO.


Jayhawk File Express was honored May 13 as an Employer of Excellence during the Topeka YWCA's 21st annual Leadership Cheryl Creviston discusses Small Business Awards with Jeff TaylorLuncheon at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center. Jayhawk File Express was also named the 2009 Topeka Small Business of the Year by the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce and Go Topeka. CEO is ABWA member Cheryl Creviston.

Glenda Kearney Duboise
Named one of Midwest CEO magazine’s 2009 Influential Women

Glenda Kearney DuBoise recently retired from AT&T with over 35 years of service in the Telecommunications field, and now Account Manager for MB Piland was recently named one of Midwest CEO magazine’s 2009 Influential Women

Since retirement the YWCA Topeka has employed her as the Director of Racial Justice Program. While there she was very instrumental in establishing and implementing the Racial Justice Program’s work towards its mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

Currently, she is employed as an Account Manager with the MB Piland Marketing & Advertising Agency where she collaborates with clients to help develop their marketing and communications strategies.

Glenda volunteers within her church and the community. She serves and held leadership positions on several community boards and foundations including the Topeka Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

She is a member and past board chair of the National Coordinating Board of YWCA USA and has represented the YWCA USA internationally in Europe, Asia, East and South Africa.

Ms. Kearney DuBoise was named one of the Top Ten Businesswomen of ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) in 2005 and is a former president of the local chapter. She is the recipient of the MLK Jr. Humanitarian & Drum Major for Justice Awards.
