About the Scholarship Luncheon
The American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) Career Chapter is pleased to announce Karren Weichert will be honored as the 2018 Woman of Distinction at the ABWA Career Chapter Scholarship Luncheon on March 13, 2018.
Karren Weichert is President and CEO of Midland Care Connection, Inc, a not-for-profit provider of health services. In her 27 years there, she has led Midland through the development of a continuum of services that includes adult day care, home health and home support, hospice, PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly), palliative care and grief services. With locations in five communities, Midland Care is today a leading provider of care in eastern Kansas
in large part due to Karren’s leadership.
She has served two terms as a director on the board of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), and chaired the NHPCO Standards and Quality Committee. A few years ago Karren was honored to testify on behalf of the NHPCO before the US Senate Special Committee on Aging regarding care of individuals with complex chronic healthcare needs. She is currently serving a third term on the National PACE Association Board of Directors.
As a Washburn Regent, we ask you to please consider being a sponsor for this year’s event, which draws nearly 400 attendees annually. Now in its 36th year, this event has raised over $365,000 in scholarships through generous support from businesses and organizations like yours. Your tax-deductible contribution will honor Karren by establishing a scholarship fund in her name for students attending Washburn University and the Washburn Institute of Technology. Please help us continue this tradition of making a difference in the lives of students and honoring extraordinary women in the Topeka community.
